By Project MUSE

Hundreds of peer-reviewed journals in the humanities and social sciences are available for single title subscription on the Project MUSE platform, representing the best scholarship from university presses, scholarly societies, and related not-for-profit publishers. The majority of the titles in our flagship curated collections offer single title access on MUSE as well, and there are more than 80 journals in our hosted journals program – titles not included in any of the curated collections – also available for single title subscription. Following are some updates to single title subscriptions on MUSE for the 2024 calendar year.

Single title subscriptions on MUSE are fulfilled and serviced by the Johns Hopkins University Press Journals Division. Many titles may be ordered directly from JHUP Journals Customer Support, while some require orders to be placed with the publisher, with access provided by JHUP/MUSE – this is noted where applicable. Libraries may also subscribe via the usual subscription agents. See our website for complete details on single title subscriptions on MUSE.

Additions to the Hosted Journals Program

MUSE is pleased to welcome several new titles to our hosted journals program for calendar year 2024. These titles are available for single title electronic subscription access on MUSE. Titles in the hosted journals program are not included in any of our curated journal collections. However, most are available as part of a discounted bundle, the PLUS+ Package, which includes nearly all the hosted titles on the platform.

Subscription orders for these journals may be placed using our online order form (requires creation of a free account), or via the usual subscription agents.

  • Filipino American National Historical Society Journal (University of Hawai’i Press / also in 2024 PLUS+ Package)
  • International Journal of Surrealism (University of Minnesota Press / also in 2024 PLUS+ Package)
  • Montana: The Magazine of Western History (Montana Historical Society Press)
  • Nevada Historical Society Q (Nevada Historical Society / electronic + print subscription only)

Also joining the hosted journals program for 2024 is Getty Research Journal, which going forward will be published open access. Current subscribers will also have access to back issues on the MUSE platform; details are forthcoming and will be provided to affected libraries later this fall.

Changes to Single Title Availability

Several titles currently available in MUSE’s curated journal collections will now also be available for the first time as single title subscriptions, beginning with 2024.

  • Anales Galdosianos (Asociación Internacional de Galdosistas / journal is ceasing print and going online only)
  • JNT: Journal of Narrative Theory (Eastern Michigan University)
  • Journal of the Early Republic (University of North Carolina Press / publisher change)
  • Nova Religio (University of Pennsylvania Press / publisher change / contact publisher to subscribe)

Two journals from Arc Humanities Press, Early Middle English and The Medieval Globe, remain available for single title subscription on MUSE, but new subscription orders must be placed with the publisher.
